CG for Planes
New to the sport, just finished building my plane but a little confused about the CG. I have the CG located on the plane but once you do that what do you do? I assume that you should be able hold the plane at that point and be able to balance it? Is that Correct???? But on the other hand it is located on the wing. Why????
Please help. Thanks |
RE: CG for Planes
The actual CG is likely somewhere down/up from the wing around the center of the fuse. The wing is a convenient place to check the balance.

RE: CG for Planes
So I should be able to hold the plane at the CG and balance it??? Add weight to either to balance????

RE: CG for Planes
If it balances slightly nose down, fly it. If it is tail down move your flight battery further forward Or add some weight near the engine; start with the plane LEVEL or you may get a false indication. Good luck.

RE: CG for Planes
Thanks for the info. I thought it was that easy but wasn't sure.
Thanks again. |
RE: CG for Planes
Every ARF or KIT is designed with a CG that is safe to use.
You have to balance each plane fore and aft to get the best spot for that particular model. as stated above move your battery pack or use weights if needed. Good luck. |
