Awsome day!!!!!!

Wow,

1st day on the buddy box

Well finally took a day off from work so I could meet one of my training buddies at the field. Took the Tiger Trainer 60, fuel, flight line equipment, 12 year old daughter, and maybe most importantly a jug of coffee. Met at about 10:30-11:00. Got the planes together, did the field checks, tied knees together so they would quit knocking and hooked up the buddy box. After we were trimmed Terry took off and final trimmed it and said here you go. Managed to fly around without needing to be saved. Terry landed and then we watched him fly.(WOW) He had his 54CC Hybrid with a 92" wingspan(?). We traded flights for a total of 5 tanks on my trainer. I managed 3 takeoffs, and 3 landings. (Not pretty but yet effective) He said a couple more days like today and he will cut my cord. (But I think he was being very kind)

Now for maybe the coolest thing, he put my daughter on the sticks and she flew for 10 minutes (twice). She got disoriented once and he had to correct it, but only once. This was her only time except for sim time at the hobby shop. He rightfully told her with a little practice she will be able to pass me up. I think I was as happy for her as she was for me when I landed for the 1st time. Now I can't wait to see how my 14 yr old and 10 yr old do.

Thanks to everyone for their helpful, knowledgeable posts. It was amazing how many things that I have read came to mind while flying and on the flight line getting ready.

Hope your day was as good as mine! (But it would take a reeaaallly goooood one!)

P.S. I can't believe I almost forgot....... After 2 flights on my trainer Terry actually handed me his transmitter for his Hybrid. (Without a buddy box!!!!!) Well I guess I did ok but did get disoriented once. It was just going away when I thought it was getting closer. I can't believe the difference between that and a trainer. You sure have to fly it all the time. No leveling itself out. Again, WHAT A DAY!!!!

welcome to R/C Modeling,is it not fun how quickly time passes by when you are
focused on flying. I love it and it looks like you will too.
Good luck.

Well done man,
You must have impressed, I wouldn't give one of my more expensive models over to a novice.
In fact, well done to your daughter as well, kids pick this up really quick. My mates 10 year old soloed after three flights with a real model. He had spent hours on the sim on both planes and heli's. And to top it all, the landing was a dead stick.
Welcome to the hobby, it sounds like the bug has bitten. :)

That's great! However this hobby sounds like it will be very expensive for you, well I mean if dad gets a new plane then you will have to buy four right. one ofr you and one for each of the kids. :D

You guessed it! I am hoping to turn this one over to them and upgrade myself. By upgrade I mean new. Probably a good thing I enjoyed my first scratch build.

Thanks,
