Choosing a spinner
I am trying to purchase a spinner for my Excelleron 90 (using a Saito 125) and am overwhelmed with all the shapes, sizes, etc of spinners to choose from:
Shape: FAI, parabolic, round, ultimate, standard, P-51, AT-6, etc. Cost: Vary from very high to low. Prop cut-out size: Custom cuts to one-size-fits-all-props. Material: Aluminum, chrome covered, etc Weight: Very low, standard, etc. Is this mainly a choice of what looks best or weighs less, or are their special properties of each to consider (aerodynamics, precision, protection, etc). Any guidelines on picking the "right" one? Thanks, Alan |
RE: Choosing a spinner
I'd guess that looks drives the decision for most of us.

RE: Choosing a spinner
Abuckner, i am flying an Excelleron 90 , and mine is powered with Magnum 120 4 stroke. I have fitted a TY1 spinner, size 3" or 75 mm, colour red , to match the fuse. This spinner now has done 2731 flights on my Excelleron, and all my starting has been with an electric starter, and still looks like new. It, the spinner, has an aluminum back plate, and the cone is plastic. Use a soft cup in your starter to help protect the spinner.
