Hey guys, I was looking at the parkzone spitfire and mustang planes. Has anyone actually tried these?

Yes I've flown before but this is actually my first electric plane. I'm more of a glow type of guy but I would like to add an electric plane to my group.

Any comments on these planes?

I've seen the Mustang fly, it's pretty impressive. The ESC can be jumpered for NiMH or LiPo, and with a LiPo battery the Mustang really hauls.

The FW-190 and the Spitfire are basically the same configurations. The Spitfire is the newest and the lightest weight of the three. That's the one I'd buy if I were in the market.

I am a big fan of the parkzone warbird planes. They fly very good. Currently im outfitting the spitfire with a Rimfire 35-48-1000, with a 80 amp esc. Can you say unlimited vertical? Haha. However stock configuration flys very good and tracks good too. It needs a lipo to fly the way it is designed too though.

Is Li-po just a type of battery that last longer and/or puts out more power?

I've got a friend with a Park Zone Spitfire, and he likes it alot. It flys very well, and is very stable. It would be a lot faster if you had a lipo and a brushless though. Still a nice relaxing flyer

Well lipo's or Lithium Polymers, are the going craze of batteries. They offer a very lightweight power source for the comparative nicad. With the lighter weight you can get a larger or more capacity battery. While your nicads is 1.2v per cell, one lipo cell is 3.7V. So for sake of example a 6 cell nicad pack makes 7.2V, and only takes 2 cells of lipo to get the same voltage.

My son has a PZ P-51D and flies the crap out of it. His little P-51D flies the pattern along with the fuel powered planes. I must say I'm not a fan of electric planes, but I am impressed with the performance.

I have one of the Mustangs in stock configuration. And there is no way it would keep up with the glow planes simply flying the pattern unless the glow guy was pulled way back on the throttle. Has your son's been modified?

Sorry, I didn't mean in speed, but in pattern flight. Sure, the glow planes will out run him, but he cuts corners to keep up. In a dive, the little P-51D moves along very well. I suppose a larger or better electric engine would make it faster, but it's not too bad the way it is. Once the batteries start to drain, I noticed the speed does wain quickly. Like I said, I am not into electrics and I don't intend to start. I prefer the ROAR of GLOW and Gas Powered engines. My 1/5th P51B Mustang is almost completed. She is powered by a Super Tigre 3250 engine. Spring Air Retracts. She will be a *****in' Bird! Best wishes to you and your 4 wheeled Mustang restoration.

I have had the J-3 cub and the p-51. I loved the cub that is how i learned to fly but i hated the mustang. Looking back now it was because it was beyond my capabilities at the time. I had a chance to fly a friends p-51 a little while a go and had a good time with it. IF you want all out speed by the stryker a cruiser buy the cub and a warbird buy the spit as it is the lightest. just my 2c
