Advice: Pt-19
I am interested in buying a PT-19..... I'd like to hear some feedback from people who own or have owned these to let me know what they liked and disliked about them. The one that I am looking at is a .40 size. What engines would you guys recommend for this plane...... I'd like to put a saito on it.....
Also, I am a beginner moving up from a trainer. I know that this aircraft was used to train pilots for WWII so I thought it might make a good low wing "trainer"....... is this right? Thanks for the help! Alex |
Advice: Pt-19
I think it would be a great trainer for you. I have always wanted one, and finally built the huge dynaflight one. I put a 41 CC engine in it and you would not believe how stable it it. It does forward slips just like the real one. It will do aerobatics noone here can believe. I can do pinwheels, flips, almost hover. The 40 size will be a pretty nice plane and a good saito 56 would be right for it. They don't need to be as over powered as mine. I just wanted it that way. You will like it. There are a lot of kits out there. You should like it a lot.

Just bought it!!!! The guy says that he dosen't know who the Manufacturer is but a friend of his built it. It is a .40 size and is in good shape. I bought it for 100 bucks. no engine or radio equip. I think that I will put a saito 56 on it. Thanks for your input.

I have a 40 size pt-19, an old EZ ARF that was given to me by a friend. I love it. Mine is powered by an ASP .40. Plenty of Omph. It's a 2-stroke, so to add sound quality, I swung an 11x7 prop and added a Du-Bro exhaust deflector. I really like the noise. The plane is naturally quite stable and capable of good aerobatics. Just don't let it be tailheavy or it will stall (mine does this on landings even though it is quite noseheavy). The picture is of a plane like mine, not my actual plane. |
