Mike that was my first guess as well, a 170 or 180. Its got a 45 inch wing span and I am not even sure if this thing is an RC. Well my first bid on a plane online. Paid $37 for it and we'll see how it goes. Thanks for the help.

A C-170 has a rounded tail. Not a C-185 with only two side windows. Its a 180.

John :)

HMMMM No ailerons and very dead looking silkspan cover (a paper product). If the rudder is fixed with a little right throw then it was probably intended for controlline. If rudder is hinged, particularly if it has more dihedral than scale it is most likely intended for RC. If it apears to have a much larger than scale stabilizer that would date it as an early scale RC possibly a Berkeley or a stirling. Berkeley tended to use planked fuselages and Stirling mostly used sheeted fuse's for their scale ships. Finally if the stabilizer is close to scale then it is a much newer kit.

Yes its a Cessna 180 as John mentioned, the 170 has a rounded tail and the 185 is almost identical but with three side windows. John good observation on the rudder "thingie", I forgot about the control line days. Is there a bellcrank inside the wing? :)

Its a nice plane anyway, but guys look at the tail, your older 180's didnt have the fin running from the fuse.to the rudder, but the 185's do.no matter what, its a neat plane.
