Small yard, small plane?
 

I want a small plane for my 1/2 acre yard.Electric is my choice. Can anyone tell me where I can get a small electric trainer! I have a 3D but need to learn with a trainer first,I think.Ron

Go to the electric forum mini/micro section and look up the airhog aeroace..thats all you can fly in a 1/2 acre and its a blast! there are hundreds of pages about this tiny thing. ..You might try MountainModelsdotcom for some of their stuff...oh and the obligatory join a club ,get some help, blah blah.....Rog ..The only other thing I would recommend is GWS PICO stick, I trained myself on one of them at the local schoolyard..

Was thinking about the pico stick and thought it might be too big for a small area. I have the slick but think I should fly a trainer first. What do you think. The pico stick I can by for 49.00 as I have the slick parts and goodies.I would have to switch back and forth.Ron

The trainers I would recommend maybe to big to fly in such small a place and if there are trees
it may make it more difficult. I would get the pico stick for the money and have fun with it.
Find out if there is a club in your area and instructor before you spend money on a trainer.

I think it might be tooo big for a small area like 1/2 acre. Was thinking below 30 inch wing span electric but a trainer.I have a 3d slick and a Yak 55 3D but everyone says I should be flying a trainer first.I do fly a CX2 Blade heli and working with a CP Pro Blade heli.I fly Air Hog Aero Aces In the yard but don't how much experience I need to try a 3D plane and take it easy.

The pico stick is great in the backyard. I used mine in the gymnasium last year and this is technically the first plane I soloed. Although I wouldn't say to learn on the pico then go buy a glow and forget the trainer. I learned on the pico in the gym then was able to solo my 60 size glow trainer after a few tanks and 2 evening with an instructor. Also the pico takes a quite a beating and keeps on going. If you want any specifics on thing to make it sturdier PM me and I would be happy to help you out.

Pico Stick or Pico J3 Cub are good choices for a very small area, but you will need dead calm conditions to fly outdoors with them. A Slow Stick or Parkzone Slo-V would be very manuverable as well, but would handle light breezes better. You could go with one of those if you learn to fly at a school yard or football field first then move to your yard once you've got the hang of things. I've seen the Slo-V flown in a small gymnasium before, I'd expect your 1/2 acre is larger than a baskeball court.
