Did it come with the tank and stuff? I thought the CB stand was just the engine mounting part. If so, then it's a better stand than I thought.

Good job on mounting the whole thing to something sturdy out of the dirt too. Be sure to use air filters. They're as important as fuel filters.

I put my engine in the plane to break it in and it worked good for me. Of course, mine is a two cycle instead of a four so I'm unfamiliar with the break-in procedure for yours.

it's not a CB stand....... I saw this one at a local store for 20 bucks plus 3 for the tank...... It worked well. I think that the CB one will be easier to get set up...... there are a few things that I would change about this one. Notice that the fuel tank is backwards because the mount for it was too close to the engine. It'll do for now.......

It will work with the tank backwards. Since the engine will only be level and not changing "attitude" tank position doesn't really matter too much as long as the engine can draw enough fuel.

This is a picture of a homemade stand I fashioned out of 3/4" plywood scrap and gave it a couple coats of poly-u. No... I didn't forget to bolt on the wing!!! :D The throttle wire has a wing nut on a 1/4-20 bolt that locks/releases for adjustments. There is plenty of area on the motor mount,(firewall), surface to add blind nuts. I use the same motor mount that is going in the plane. The base is easily screwed to a saw horse or bench, etc. This is my .91 Saito on the stand. It is OK on the saw horse but I would weight down anything bigger. I will soon be bolting on my new 150 Saito to the saw horse. I've seen flying pizzia boxes, dog houses, etc. but a sawhorse!!! :rolleyes:.:D ..lownslo..

mine's attached to a saw horse too...... it worked out really well. One more tank through the OS 48 and it'll be ready to go. After seeing Dave McDonald's flying oddities on here I figured that I would try the flying saw horse.....lol.......

I posted this in the other thread and for some reason it didn't show up.

If you've ever been to a Sears (I know everyone here has been there several times), you've probably noticed that they sell the stands for their power tools seperately. You know what I'm talking about - those bolt together, angle iron stands.

It would be very easy to bolt a piece of ply to the top of one and mount the test stand. I plan to do that soon because it would be a stable, permanent test stand. I'm sure the saw horse works just as well and is probably a lot less expensive.

mine is just like lomnslo`s but instead of a wing nut i used a old servo.no wing nut to tighten& loosen , just turn the servo arm to the desired rpm. conk

Great idea Conkster!!!!
I just happen to have some old servos laying around and that new 150 Saito will be fired soon.
It is snowing again!!!! :(
