? re fuel tank placement

Hi,
My question is: I believe I saw a plane not long ago in a magazine that was meant to fly off water, and the engine was mounted up above the fuselage, rather than in the nose. It seems there is so much concern over getting the fuel tank in line with the engine, how do they set it up in models like that? Even with a small 2oz tank in the engine housing, how is it set up to get enough pressure to force fuel to flow from a larger tank up to the engine?

Thanks for any thoughts....

pressure from the muffler is used to pressurize the fuel systems in the majority of 2 and 4 stroke engines.

I believe YS engins are set up slightly different but am not 100% sure

there are also fuel pumps available cline and perry make some

If you look again, you'll see that the engine nacelle is large enough to accommodate a tank.

thanks minnflyer

I figured there was a little 2oz tank in there at least, but didn't suspect a full tank would have been there. I guess that is the answer. Thanks!

Hey uonlylivetwice,
Did you ever finish that Kobra and what size engine did you put in it?
Thanks

Hey GRS34....

I can't believe you remembered I was working on a Kobra. Actually it is still in progress, this is a busy time for me with work and school. I am actually putting an OS 40 LA in it. I know lots of people rip the LA's, but they seem to run fine for me, and looking at the output relative to the weight, it appears to me to be in line with a 'hotter' .25, but cheaper. I hope to have it ready by spring. I am going to try to give more time to the finish on it, too, and deck it out in a Wisconsin Badgers theme, so it might take a little longer, but it will fly this summer!! Thanks for asking...

The LA's are fine, If you were to fly everyday then yes the LA's are not that good. Most of us have more than 1 plane anyway. I'm actually having a friend build my Kobra and I'm putting in a OS .25. He has one and it has an OS .46, way too fast! He's also building mine with air retracts and foam wings. Have fun with it and keep me posted on how you like it.
Thanks

Hey GRS, how are you building the foam wings?
