No problem ,again, you're doing a great job. Covering jobs only get better the more you do them...who know, maybe one day you'll think its fun! [sm=tongue_smile.gif]

If I could just figure out a way that I can pull on the monocoat with out burning my fingerprints off I think it would be alot more fun. I tried a oven mit but I could not grip it. I think thats the reason that wing tips were so hard cause I would burn my finger and have to let go of the covering and it would wrinkle anyway thanks for incouragement keep the tips coming I need all the help I can get.
Thanks
Chris

I read a couple build threads that discussed covering...

Try welding gloves. They should give you the grip you need, and provide the heat resistance as well...

Is that one of those gardening gloves or is there something else special about it?(Just wondering if this is something I can just go get at WAL-MART)

I honestly don't know. The material may be less heat resistant. Cheap, worth a try?:D

What is the frame made out if and what is covering the wings. Is it a form of heatshrink tubing or something totally different than that.

RE: First Build

Balsa wood framework and Monokote covering. Monokote is a heat shrinkable self adhesive (when heated) plastic covering.

That is prety cool. How big is the wingspan/overall size of the thing. Judging by the exercise ball it looks prety large. Good luck on the building of it. Will the Monokote work on foam or is that ng.

RE: First Build

Monokote requires heat. Foam doesn't like heat. [sm=thumbs_down.gif]

The wing span is 63 inchs its a mid sized plane. Here is a link to it with all the specs if you want to check out.

I am having some issues with getting the covering to stretch over this part of the wing using one piece of mono coat. I don't have the funds right now to just keep trying mono coat gets expensive when you keep screwin up. Do you guys have any suggestions?
Thanks
Chris

"I don't have the funds right now to just keep trying mono coat gets expensive when you keep screwin up."

Let me rephrase that I have the funds but the Fiance/banker thinks that a cruise that we are going on this weekend is more important. Where does she get off thinkin that?:D

Duh, use more than one piece.:D Don't make problems. You'll find enough without inventing them. Sometimes the obvious solution is the correct solution too.:)

No I did not think that you were. I just get really frustrated when I can make it look perfect. But I think this being my first plane I need to stop being so anal and Just get it done and learn to fly. I can be anal on the next one. Thanks again.

Well here is the rest of the wing I did not get a chance to take finshed photo(battery died on the camera)but here what I got. If I keep this pace up I might be done by Christmas:eek: anyway as I said earlier the Finace and I are going on a cruise the this week so I will not have any time to work on the rita [:o] I wonder if there is a flying field in Cozumel that I could visit?
Thanks
Chris

RE: First Build

That'll do just fine. Enjoy the cruise and worry about flying later. This time is for you & her, not the plane.:D

Wow its been a while......hahaha......and I am still not done with the rita. I guess its time to get back at it. I just have to cover the nose and the rudder and a few small things. I doHhave a question for you guys, That Airtonics RD6000 battery will not hold a charge anymore. What Lipo battery will work? THe orignal is a 9.6v 600mAH 3H. Also what does that 3H mean? Thanks
