Windex Method?
Hello.
What types of covering will and won't work with the windex method of applying decorative covering? Thanks in advance for your help. Del |
RE: Windex Method?
Will work on MonoKote
Will NOT work on Ultracote Don't know about the others |
RE: Windex Method?
The windex method only works with Monokote. You can use it to put monokote over monokote or ultracoat. But it won't work for ultracoat. The ammonia in the windex activates the adhesives in the monokote.

Ken, are you sure it's ONLY MK that it works with? What about some of the also-rans, like EconoKote Et Al?

RE: Windex Method?
Weird. I actually had some success with Windex and Ultra Cote. Then again, I did take heat to the Ultracoat afterward. It does work for keeping it in place if you are laying down trim stuff on your base coat.

RE: Windex Method?
Mike,
I don't know about Econokote, but since EK is basically cheap monokote I would think it would work. I'll have to give it a try some time. You can also use the Windex Method for laying down vinyl graphics on your covering. The advantage here is that the windex allows you to properly position your graphic before the adhesive sets. If you try to put on vinyl graphics without windex you are pretty much limited, once the graphic is down it is there for good!! Ken |
