Recommend a Quality Radio Case
Guys,
Just bought a Futaba 9C and I was looking around for a good quality radio case to protect the 9C when not in use. I saw a couple at Tower Hobbies. One was cheap, and one looked ok, but I know there's better quality out there. Can anyone help? |

Probably one of the most rugged cases you can get is a Pelican case. These are watertight cases used by photographers to carry their very expensive equipment. It comes with pick-and-pluck foam squares that allows you to tailor the insides exactly to your equipment. But the latches are a little different than the typical aluminum case latch so you might not like them. But since you asked for a better quality case, Pelicans are an option...albeit an expensive option :)

TX Case
Paul, one of the cheapest would be a pistol case. I've bought them for $10.00-$15.00 at gun shops and some of the big discount chains have them. Another little more expensive case is one by Case Guard [they make rifle and pistol hard cases] called the 'accessory case', both are big enough to be used for two TX's if you want but you have to cut the foam to fit your TX. My opinion these are much better than the cheap aluminum tool cases that you can buy at Home Depot-type stores.

Go to your local Lowe's and go to the Truck Bed isle. You will find a tool box there that is basically the same thing that Futaba sells for the 9Z, except it is only 20 bucks. It is metal, will hold two transmitters, and is foam-padded on the inside. Also comes with shoulder strap and locks. That's what I bought for my 9C and I am very happy with it. These cases are becoming popular at my field. For the price you can't afford NOT to protect your radio. You'll notice in the pic that I removed the top foam to show the leather pouches for tool storage. I usually have the top foam inserted. This case also has the pluck-out foam squares.

FYI, I bought the tower case and it's works great. It's about twice as expensive as the Lowes or Home Depot cases, so if I had to do it again, I'd got there.

Wanted to say thanks for the suggestion to buy the case from Lowes. After buying the plane, radio, and engine, I couldn't see my wife agreeing to let me make one more major purchase (I was just going to keep the radio in the box it came in for the first few months). The case works great! |

Yeah,
Thanks a lot. I like them too. I think that I'll buy the one from Lowe's too. Thanks for your help, and taking the time to snap a pic. |
That's a CASE
Awesome, Lowes and RCU knows! Thanks, I'm off to the market.

I bought the same case from Lowe's a while back......one of the best R/C investments I've made!

Got mine at walmart. Same case. I put different foam in it and made it to hold 2 radios and some tools in separate compartments. Works great.
