Elvolution 3 blad training prop on nexstar?
guys, someone told me to use the Evalution 3 blade training prop on my nexstar, to fly the plane a little bit slower.. im still learning and dont like flying with the flaps.. so would this prop be a good idea . it still has the stock os .46
Thanks |

I used that prop on a 46LA engine and it flew my Lazy Tiger around pretty good. I think your engine will have a little more power than mine so it should not be a problem. I've heard that the prop for the Evo engine (3 blade) is like a 10X7 or something like that.

The Evolution TPS propeller is a 10x4 3-blade. It's thrust at full throttle should be pretty similar to the Nexstar 11x5 prop.
I am skeptical that there would be much of a difference performance between the two props, and you'll need to track down a prop nut or 3-blade spinner to try the Evo TPS propeller. You could try a Master Airscrew or APC 11x4 propeller to use with your existing spinner, as well. The Nexstar 11x5 propeller will slow the plane down plenty well, having trained on a Nexstar myself I really doubt this change is necessary. |

There is a difference...
The PTS prop is shaped purposely to slow the plane down and keep it within a certain airspeed range. The blade pitch does not extend almost to the center of the blades as do the APC's and others. I switched my 10 year old daughter's Alpha 40's PTS 3 blade prop out for an 11x5x3 and saw an immediate improvement in power and performance. Since she is still learning I placed the PTS prop back on. She's more confortable with the more gentle handling. Frankly that engine and plane is better off with an 11x6 2 blade prop... but that will come later. |

If you want to fly slower, use the left stick. That's what its there for.

Not quite the same thing...
The PTS prop serves a purpose, keeping the plane within a specific flight envelope and making it far easier for the newbie... The Alpha is such a "gentle" flyer with the PTS prop that there really is no reason to swap it out for the beginner. It's presence permits them to learn to use the throttle w/o much danger. |

the PTS is the 3 blade correct?

Yes it's a very low pitch prop with squared off tips...
The upside is that it is a great air brake, and produces very little noise, making the Alpha a fairly quiet plane. |
