I'd run " trainer " through the search engine here, and I'm sure you'll get alot of different choices, and opinions, on which is the best, and why.

For what it's worth, I just put together a Global RCM Trainer, it flys great, and it's all bolt-together with no gluing.

Find your local club and hang out. See what they are flying and what they can help with. Some of the bigger clubs may even have a club trainer for you to see and play with.
Mine is a Tower .60 ARF. It went together quickly and flies great. With my older eyes when it gets way up there I can still see if it's inverted or not. That gomes in really handy when your instructor tells you to turn left. :p

"BEST" and "TRAINER" are pretty wide descriptions, personaly the BEST trainer for me was the SPAD Debonair, it was cheap, tough, easy to build and had lots of on line back up, it's also available as an ARF if you dont want to build.

have a look at www.spadtothebone.com
having said that the SPAD BUHOR probably builds quicker and has a better wing loading for slower flight.

Or ifyou dont mind the extra bit of work the SPADet is a nice looking plane

My vote is for the Hobbico Avistar.
Since the bottom of the wing is not completely flat, it allows simple aerobatics without a lot of trouble. It is a great flyer and you will love it with a 46 sports engine.
