well guys i finally got it down.i got me a bow, and tied fishing line to the arrow.it took me several shots, but i managed to get one of them through the fuse. after i little trying i got the arrow back down.then i tied on some clothes line rope. got that work through and started pulling.after a few hancks, it finally came down. i had to jump out the way, but all is well.i got it home and plugged in the batt, i wanted to see if the electronics would still work. and they do. so i just need a wing, fuse, control rods, and a servo, and maybe some small parts. well i don't have any pics of it in the tree, i had to goto wal-mart to get some line, and i went straight to the tree in question. but i've got some of it after, hope these work.

RE: it was a bad day
Congrats on getting her down. IMHO , I would get a new ARF , by the time you buy everything individually, you`ll find yourself close to the price of one any way, if not more. Or , if you`ve been flying for 2 years, maybe a low wing ? Just a thought.
troposcuba I`m a prime example of why it is wiser to get an instructor. lol And believe it or not, several seasoned flyer's have been instructed on and borrowed the { Insane`s Treetop Retrieval Kit} coming to a LHS near you. lol jk. After that tree top landing I joined a club , got my AMA and did things the way that many tell the newbies to do. |
RE: it was a bad day
Don't look so bad. Some CA and a bit of epoxy it'll be good as new. Oh yeah, order a new ARF to go with that glue.:D

RE: it was a bad day
You could always go for a High and a Low wing at the same time!!:D........
A Biplane....[8D]:);) Murph........ P.S. don't feel too bad.......I have a pile of 12 planes that look just like your nexstar!![sm=cry_smile.gif] World models makes an Ultimate biplane 40 size---$125 (I Loved mine---easy to fly---Like it was on rails) One of the "Older" guys at our field really really loves his "World Models Sky Raider" It lands real nice , and only costs $65. They make both High and Low wing versions. |
RE: it was a bad day
I wouldn't worry about rain. Chances are good that the electronics are inside a tent, the fuselage. I had a plane burried in the woods, nose first into a creek bed that sat there for four months before being found. The wing with two servos is still lost, as well as the landing gear, but what was retrieved was OK, except for the receiver. That needed a new crystal and two ceramic filters after the shock of the crash. It was a Futaba 149dp, so it was worth the bucks to get it fixed. Oh yes, one servo had stripped gears. There was no damage from going through the winter to the electronics.
I would not use a bow and arrow or a sling shot trying to snag the plane down. An arrow through the servo tray could do a lot of damage, or through the receiver. Ditto for a rock or what ever from the sling shot.. Get one of the helo guys to dance around just above the plane and see if the wind will knock it loose. Don |
