Self Discovery
Ya, um..... my flying sucks.. Yeppers.. But no surprise there, just a newbie and never flown at all befor.
What i have figured out is altho the plane looks to be a good sixe on the ground it sure gets small fast when in the air. Im having a hard time figureing if the bloody thing is coming or going.. Think i want a bigger plane. 8( |
RE: Self Discovery
I understand, if I get any older I am going to have to get bigger planes too. :D

RE: Self Discovery
Do you have an instructor? If you do, then he will save you when you lose the direction its going.
|
RE: Self Discovery
trouble with bigger planes is that you will still have the same problem you just need to keep the plane closer in and not so high both tough for a beginner but practice and experience will help.

RE: Self Discovery
4 things that will help a lot
1. get an instructor 2. fly slower 3. fly closer 4. get an instructor :D |

ORIGINAL: Insanemoondoggie Maybe you started out with to much plane, what are you flying? My problem is that when the plane gets out there to that point where i would want to turn around and come in for an approach, i dip the wings down to use the ailerons and elevators to turn it to line it up, but somehow, i dunno, maybe i roll the plane over so much and the bloody thing takes off the other way, or maybe im doing something completely wrong, but the stupid thing will go out father then it was befor rather then lining me up for my landing run! grrrr! im a newb, i know it.. and ya.. I'm definatly gonna get an instrauctor to help me next time... lucky the plane even survived my lack of patience. |
RE: Self Discovery
3blade props fly planes fast when there in the air, they unload and will give you extra speed.
slow your plane down by using a larger dia.prop with less pitch like a 13/4 prop, tons of torque so you will be able to power out of situations but your speed will be lower and your plane will stay close and won't run away from you as fast. as you get used to the speed then up the pitch. |
RE: Self Discovery
That thing on the left stick is called the "throttle". It doesn't have to be wide open all the time is spite of what many will tell you:D. SLOW THE PLANE DOWN AND KEEP IT CLOSER. But really, get an instructor or a trash bag, all kidding aside.[:@]

RE: Self Discovery
With the OS.55 you got plenty of horse and once you get use to it , you`ll love the extra power.
If the 3 blade you have is off a Evo trainer system , try switching to the 12x5 or6 Master Airscrew. Not the best puller , but well take the abuse of prop strikes better. On your wings leading edge put a 1/2 inch stripe , Yellow , brite red or whatever color stands out the most. This well help you with keeping your wings level on landings and with orientation. Also throttle control is a must with overpowering a plane. If you are determined to teach yourself to fly , be prepared for the set backs and oops that come with it. Oh! and the cost. It well be spendy. I recommend you spend an hour or 2 with an instructor, this would speed up your skills a bunch. And what you well have learned in that short time, is going to take you a lot longer on your own. But I`m self taught and well give you what tips I can if this is the way you decide to go. Maybe you should watch this , as it shows how many oops can happen when self taught. [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ji4fV03qJA]Insane Flys kind of ![/link] |

I had that thing full bore when i was up in the skies, only time i really kicked it back when i tried to land the bloody thing.
