Can't read plans!!!

Could someone please help me read these plans. You can get to the plans by following the link below.

1. What thickness balsa should I use for the wing ribs (trainer config-page 3).
2. What thickness balsa should I use for the elevator.

The plans are in DWG format. Clicking to the link below will download the file ZIP.

If you don't have a program to read CAD files there are many free readers on the internet, just go to google and type "free DWG file viewer".

Thanks

You will get an answer quicker if you post this in the Scratch Builder's forum. Good luck.

I gave them a thorough look over. The dimensions simply are not there, anywhere. Was there a part list or text provided with the plans? About all I saw called out was some doubler thicknesses and a couple of other small items. Marginal plans at best if that is all you have.

As I interpret the plans, the wing ribs appear to be cut from 1/8" Balsa sheet. You might consider using 1/8" aircraft ply for the inner 2 or 3 ribs on each wing. The control surfaces, (elevator, rudder, horizontal and vertical stabs) appear to be built up from 1/4"x1/2" balsa sticks, with an inner layer of 1/16" balsa sheeting. After its built up, it is sanded to the final airfoil shape shown on the plans.

I obtained these dimensions by opening the files in a drawing program and using the dimension feature in the program to make the measurements.

I opened these up in autocad and by using the demension function it gives the ribs as 1/8 " thick, same for the stab ribs and framework,I do not see any inner sheeting.there might be some confusion as that is near the tip and shows the 1/8 balsa frame with 1/4" scrap glued to it to make the tip

If you look at the profiles for the elevator, rudder, horizontal, and vertical stabs, you'll see a 1/16" gap between the upper and lower sticks. It looks like there is a top and bottom frame. The only way I can see this structure being stable is with the 1/16" sheeting or plywood between the top and bottom.

Alternatively, there might be 1/16" stringers running fore and aft, but without cross bracing, it would be pretty flimsy.
