Glassing wing joint
When glassing the wing joint on an Avistar ARF...do you only glass the bottom part of the wing or do you go all the way around?

RE: Glassing wing joint
On a High Wing trainer, only the bottom of the wing, the part that sits in the fuse, needs to be glassed. But first, I would check with other Avistar owners to see if anyone has had any problem with wings folding on that particular model. If no one has had issues, I wouldn't bother.

RE: Glassing wing joint
I have two Avistars, one with the ply wing joiner and one with the metal rods. I glassed both of the airplanes wings. I glassed the tops and the bottoms, if you are careful with a little heat you can peel the covering film out of the way. Peel it back about two inches either side of the centerline, glass, sand and reaply the covering, you have to look hard to see the glass job.

I've had one fold the wing on a hard landing.
Definitely glass both sides. |
RE: Glassing wing joint
i havent glassed them but have used the nylon tape with epoxy all the way round.
