Transfering plans to balsa
 

Hi Guys.

I am looking for an easy way to adhere printed out plans to balsa for cutting. I would like something that allows you to remove the paper easily after cutting. How do you guys do it.

3M makes a good spray on adhesive for this... Unfortunately I do not recall the exact name of it.

There are probably many different ways to do this. I use rubber cement because if rubs off the balso easily when I have finished the cuts. The brand I use is Best-Test White Rubber. No Curling, shrinking or wrinkling. Hope this might help. I know there are other methods and I'm sure you will get plenty of info. Good luck to a scratch builder, not many of us left.

It's 3M 77. just use a lite spray and then you can easily peal off the remains when you are through sanding.

There was an old technique using a printer that used toner. Most printers don't use toner now. But, back in the day, you could copy sections of your plans , making certain that they were exactly 100% size, then tape the copy to the balsa, toner side down, and rub the back with mineral spirits. The toner would adhere to the balsa and bingo.

The 3M 77 is a good choice, they make a low tack spray to be used on the back of the paper, then stick to the balsa, easily removed with little residue. Any art supply would have it and it comes in small size that will last a long...long time.
