I've Soloed!

I soloed last week and now im flying the Tribute with a OS 46 on it. that thing is so much fun! my dad is going to teach me flat spins now, and he showed me a flat spin on the tribute, and its amazing how good it flat spins! it doesn't even lose any altitude! i also tryed hovering way up high, but its a lot harder than on the simulator. my dad says that im ill be as good as him by the end of the year (he's been flying for about 8 years) and i think he really meant it. well we still have another 46 and a 50 and a flight pack in my trainer, so im trying to decide another plane to get next. im thinking about getting a Harrier 3D 46 from horizon hobby or a Twist. its so hard to decide!

Excellent! You have a great dad there - he wants you to be as good as he is and is spending the time with you to meet that goal. Congrats!

Well done! one of the mods will be along in a minute to award you an Attaboy.

why not build a kit? atleast then you cna get the satisfaction of knowing that plane was built by you and adds that extra special touch

Mrlikescheese,
Great job on the solo!!!!! Don't worry, the smile will go away in a few weeks or so!!! :D

A solo flight is a great accomplishment and that wins you one genuine RCU ATTABOY (Suitable for framing, wrapping fish, or lining trashcans).

Congratulations on your solo. Did your face hurt from all the smiling? :D May all your landings be wheels down.

Yep, my son flys much better than me now. And he's only too willing to tell anyone that's interested. Keep up the good work, you'll have Dad sharpening up his skills too.

oh, me and my dad are working on our old Morris Hobbies Knife. i had to cut her open to redo the pull-pull system. but now we just have to cover the fuse and we're ready to go! im also saving up for a Harrier 3D from Hanger 9. my dad kind of got me into aerobatic planes right away, but i might try some warbirds after a while. Today i was watching the show Dogfights on the History Channel and there was a biplane called a Spad and 5 Fokker something biplanes in a dogfight. i never new that WW1 planes were so manuverable! So i might try one of those biplanes someday, cuz the full scale ones look really cool in the air.

Big CONGRATS, mrlikescheese. How about that feeling of accomplishment, huh?

So, tell us, how loud did you yell, when you landed that flight for your solo?

Have a safe flight day,
EJ

RE: I've Soloed!

A couple days ago i was flying the Tribute and it was really windy. after a while i noticed that the plane was getting harder to control and i thought it was just the wind. it also wouldn't roll as fast. so i just flew it for a little while longer and then landed. when i was coming in on the runway i noticed that one of the ailerons were floppin around. After i landed i found out that one of my ailerons detatched from the control horn! This was only my second flight on the Tribute and i flew and landed it in 15 MPH wind and with one aileron! I was very surprised that i was able to keep it under control! At least i didn't wreck any thing!

RE: I've Soloed!

This site and the simulator helped a lot. And my dad and Jim Z. helped me on the buddy box and they're mostly the reason that i had the confidence to solo.
Thanks everyone!

i had an Aerobird Challenger (those suck!) and i piled it into the ground twice. the first time it broke the wing in half and the second time it fried the electrics.
