Muffler is too obvious
 

I have a scale warbird (p-51) and I'm trying to make it look as real as possible. Can you give me any tips on hiding the muffler or making it less noticeable.

ps. the engine is upside down

Pitts style muffler. Probably the most inconspicuous.

Pitts muffler is your best bet. That's one upside to four strokes.....itty bitty muffler :D

there is an exhaust system that uses the slots in the cowl, just like the full scale. I don't know any details. But i saw it just this morning

im not sure where you can get them in America and it says they are for .90 engines so unless you can find a smaller version of that i guess thats your lot :(

oh yeh, get a four stroke! theres some nice Saito Golden knights going cheap on fleabay :D

You did not mention the brand of P-51 or the size and brand of engine you are using. This information might make it easier for someone to help you. Larger scale planes are a lot easier to make look "as real as possible." Just use the little ones to learn how to fly on and the bigger ones will be easier when you get to them. Like everyone else here I am assuming you have a 40 size P-51 probably a Chinese ARF from Nitro Planes. However If this is not what you have, chime in and let us know.
