hey you guys. here's my plane. it's an eagle i aquired a few years back. it was pretty much built, i had to finish a few things and cover it. im at the stage now where i have to get rid of afew wrickles and figure out a sceme. i have matelic blue and true red to do something with, any thoughts? also i have to redo the engine mount because i have no down or right trust. hope ya'll enjoy.

right now it's got a great planes mount but im going to cut a breakaway plate out of 1/4" ply and it will be set right.

ok, question. will this be ok? i ca'ed the rod to the plasic push rod and im going to solder the clevis to the rod.

Color scheme suggestion needed huh? Let me see... You have red, it's already white, and you have blue... red, white, and blue... hummm.... I'll have to think about that... ;)

You want a pattern on the top that is significantly different from the pattern on the bottom to make the planes attitude easier to distinguish. A sunburst pattern on the top wing is easy to do, looks really good, and gives very good definition. You only need three pieces on each side of the wing make it stand out. Repeat the sunburst colors on the horizontal stab and elevator for a really sharp look.

On the bottom of the wing, a single wide stripe (6 inches wide or so) on each side makes a good reference.

What color is the background you'll be looking at when landing? If its a dark color, such as green trees, leave the leading edge of the wing white. If its clear sky, a dark stripe on the leading edge will help with contrast, and make it easier to see the plane when making your approach.

A stripe down the side of the fuselage will also make it easier to judge the planes attitude on approach.

If the rod doesn't flex, it'll work ok. Flexible pushrods are usually run through a holding tube. The outer tube is then fixed at each end and braced in between to stop any bowing under load.

Maybe consider adding a few stipe bars on the leading edge of the plane about 5" wide. It will make the plane much easier to see when it is coming toward you, especially when landing. I have posted a pic of one of my planes to give an idea of what it looks like. :D

Before you go wild on remounting your engine fly it first (or have someone fly it). You may find it is just fine the way it is.
I have flown quite a few trainers and have found them to be very forgiving on engine placement.
That said, alot of kits and ARFs have offsets already built into the firewall anyway.

Thanks for the comments. For the engine mount, im building what would have came in the kit. I found the plane and it didnt have all the parts, i want it to be as close to stock so im going to build the engine plate and see how it works. Plus this ajustable mount is causing problems with mounting the front landing gear and i want that to be fixed. As for the layout i was thinking of a blue leading edge for the wing and tail surfaces, checkered on the bottom of the wing and some stripes on the bottom of the elevator, and a blue and red stripe going down the sides.

Ya its Snow but not in July but early in the flying season. We basically have 2 seasons up here, building season and flying season. I start flying as soon as enough snow has melted off the main runways. Snow on the sides just makes a nice looking background don't you think!! :D
