Help me pick a plane

Hi all,

I am knida new to the plane side of the rc world but, last christmas i got my first plane which was a HBZ supercub. Since my first flight, i have been hooked!!! I head to the local field almost 4 times a week and i still cannot get enough. But, after i mastered the supercub, i made a huge leap to the parkzone brushless f27c stryker. I have had over 5 months of spine tingling fun with the stryker but, last month i wanted to get a real balsa plane while still sticking to eletric models. I made the decision to get the eflite mini pulse xt! wow what a big change, it flys so much better than my foam planes. So, my question is this, i am about to buy another nice balse plane (40 size) and i have not decided if it will be nitro or not buyt my flying buddies are pushing me to go nitro. I really like eletric but the nitro is not new to me (i have hade 5 baots and almost 10 cars that all were nitro)

so overall, i am having trouble picking a new plane. I am looking at 2 types (sport/3d) now if i go sport, i want something that is pretty fast, looks great, flys great, acrobatic and one that can slow down nicely for landings. But, if i go down the sport 3d road, i dont want to break the bank with the cost. If it helps any, i have a new os 46 that i would like to use in the setup if i go nitro.

the planes i have concidered so far are

the GP venus, H9 pulse 40, ultrastick 40, cap 580, and various foam 3d profiles and tons of others. I just have no clue what to get so, feel free to chime in with any ideas!

Too me, the simplest thing to do would be to go with a stik. They can be hot flyers with the right engine, yet trainer characterisitcs if needed to get you use to it all.

The H9 Twist is a great sport 3D plane... it flies nicely slow or fast. I've got the 60 and 150 size version of the Twist and love them, with a .46 you'd obviously go with the .40 size version.

The above two are great suggestions.

If you wish to fly something a bit more like your Pulse XT, pick up it's bigger cousin or a Super Sportster.

I have a Twist .40 and its a very fun plane. Use low rates till you get use to it and you should be fine. Your .46 will work fine with it.
They do have a weak spot , the fuse is weak behind the wing. and they will break if landed to hard . I added some epoxy to beef it up and have had no problems.

The first thing that popped into my head upon reading your criteria was the Twist.

I don't own one and have never flown one, but have seen them fly. 3D capable but they really float and can slow down well for landings.

TWIST, TWIST, TWIST 40

I have the Twist 60 and can't get enough of it. I can't believe how fast and how slow it will fly. I love the 3D manuevers it will do or just fly around like a trainer. Go with the Twist and then later go with the FuntanaX 100. The Funtana is hanging in my shop waiting for it's maiden after I get the Twist down pat.

There's a young lad who works in the LHS to me, he's helped me put things back together so many times as I've learnt and really helped me a lot and have come to totally trust him - he's a competition flyer himself and has had planes since he was 8 yrs old.
I went over the other day to pick up some servo's for a new plane and there was a 2nd hand Extreme Flight Yak hanging up, turned out it was his plane but he'd sold it to the store as he need some money and they were now in turn selling it on.
He couldn't say enough good things about it in terms of it's flight charchteristics and how easy it is to learn manouvres on etc and also how it executes them once you're more competant compared to other planes- just a thought and haven't flown one myself but when you hear that from someone who's only given you good advice again and again and has already sold the plane so has nothing to gain himself - may be worth considering.
If you go the foam 3D then maybe the Multiplex Acromaster, I've been flying about the same time as you and have just bought one, quite easy to get started on low rates and then build up, have had about 7 / 8 flights with it so far.
