oh crap! not again
 

well my top flite P-47 that I purchased arf, it needed some work and spent lots of time on it since april. on saturday my friend who has great skills took it off for the first time, hetrimmed it handed me the controls and I flew it for a bit and he landed it thank god, i felt so releaved. it was taking a while to slow down and he started to turn it then, all of a sudden it he lost control of it and went full steem up the hill and out of sight until.....bang well it certainly could be worse.

But there is one question I have. What caused it. obviously it was a radio problem but where to start, the cristal is in s gray case, how do I get it out? also the antenna is run by other wires and was run on the bottom of the plane through the grass. could these be the suspects. the plane did pass a range check.

where should i start? I don't want to buy a new receiver if I dont have to because of my lack of current resources. I am rethinking this hobby again because of the luck i have with most of my planes, but I don't want to get in to it.

was it on the ground when this happened?what radio,jr?pack up the switch,rx,battery and tx and send it to the manufacturer for a check up.could be a break in the ant wire,a bad switch,or even a rf can in the rx,anytime you have a crash and it is a radio problem that can not be found by yourself let the professional find it and save your next plane.it really does not cost much.

Through the grass? Huh?

I didn't read a word about a range check. Did you do one?

I think you are saying "the plane went nuts after landing, the engine went WOT and the plane veered off somewhere on the ground but didn't takeoff again". Your description is vague so pardon our confusion.

PPM or PCM radio with failsafes set? If PPM, maybe landing shook something loose or affected the RX somehow.

do you mean the antenna wire was hanging low at the back and dragging the ground? I have ran a lot of antenna wires attached close to the tale wheel and out the back on trike gear airplanes, and haven’t had any problems with that set up, but only about 3 to 4 inches hanging outside of the airplane. is it possible that the throttle clevis came loose from either the carburetor or servo? did you check the all the servo connections and control surface connections after the crash. also I would recommend doing what aerowoof suggested to be on the safe side. send the radio and rx in to be tested.

the antenna was dragging out the wing and I taped it on the back of the pane, but the grass was long and someone said that may be the problem.

sorry for the confusion but yes it was landed on the ground, and yes everything is still connected and my system is Fm

The grass wouldn't do anything. When you taped it on did you double the antenna back on itself anywhere? Did you perform a range check?

I would bet the crystal was loose in the receiver, and landing the plane added one more jiggle.
That, or a servo connector was only partially inserted into the receiver.
