Hi
I have a t6exap futaba transmitter with a crystal of about 72Mhz
can I use a 2.4 ghz crystal on transmitter and receiver and what will be the difference
thx a lot

There's no such thing as a 2.4g crystal and that transmitter as far as i remember doesn't accept frequency modules.

BarracudaHockey is exactly correct. There is no such thing as a 2.4 Ghz crystal.

csytal can be a tricky thing they come in all kind of size, configuration, paralell or series.
oscullators perhaps is what you're refering to as 2.4 ghz
yes i know, it only coat $.50 if you buy in a batch and you gatta pay $10 to $15 for a replacement in R/C

but you have to get the proper frenquency to match your reciever and tx.
i worked in electronic manufacture for years and years. Had crystal failed of course.
And there's crystal all over the warehouse or i can ask for free samples. it would
take me all day anyways to call around looking for the exact crystal i need.

But I'll never take a chance of putting $300 in the air just to save $10.

There are no 2.4 GHz crystals. Period. Didn't you read what RC Ken had to say about this?

If someone told you there were, well, I have a bridge in New York that I have for sale. Cheap.

oscullators..lol oscullators people also call them crystals.

nothing is imposiable I order them to whatever specs i need for whatever projects or design.
The crystal manufacture just grow them then cut them ...after all they are crystals,
if i wanted a 2.4 gzh or need it..i'm pretty use a crstal manufacture and make them for me.
just close a crap load of money to run a batch.

changing crystal in a transmitter is illegal in the states anyway.don't know what is legal in lebannon

You won't find a crystal in that range, too high of a frequency. The crystal (if used) will be at a lower frequency and then a frequency multiplier circuit would be used or to base a PLL circuit.

HC49 casing csystal are dime a dozen. it's just the casing
you can even fine the exact frequncey, but you have to make sure if it's 18pf or 20pf
What ??? are crystsl only used in R/C..lmao

obivouly the radio manfacture order those things via their custom code. and it's not like
theyre going to sell 10000 crstals in a day to a specific frequency . So it's relative a lost to them.


The crystals comes out of china like all of youre toys

It seems that I launched a very hot debate here:)
I just asked the question cuzz I read a post for someone using 6exa futaba 2.4 ghz , and I only wanted to know if it is a different transmitter or the user just changed the crystal , cuzz I have the same transmitter with 72MHhz.

Although it looks very much the same (except antenna) it is different internally. Software is the same and operation the same. Only the frequency is really different to the casual observer.As said above, it is NOT a system where you can simply change a crystal or module and change frequencies like you could many other transmitters. There are other transmitters where you can change "modules" and go from 72 MHz to 2.4 GHz though.

I understand that chrystals are not necesarily the same frequency as shown on your transmitter, Different brands multiply the chrystal (oscilator) frequncy at different rates. Some one can correct me if this is wrong . pardon the spelling.

You are correct. Although they also may be the correct frequency too.
