Need help with trainer spinner.
I have changed my alpha 60 from a 3 blade to a 12x7 APC 2 blade and i cannot find a 2.5 inch spinner to fit the flywheel on the Evolution .61. I tried a Dubro 2.5 spinner and the back of the spinner is not flat. The original spinner that came with the plane has a flat back and this is what i need, just a 2 blade , not a 3 blade. It has to fit flush against the flywheel. Any suggestions ????

RE: Need help with trainer spinner.
Are you going with a plastic or an aluminum spinner?? If you want aluminum [link=http://www.truturn.com]Tru Turn[/link] spinners have a flat backplate on them. Your other option would be to just remove the flywheel from the engine, then you can use any spinner that you want to without any problems.

Another way to go woild be to use one of Dubro's spinner NUTS. Check out the Dubro site, they are in the 730- 773 series part numbers. ENJOY !!! RED

RE: Need help with trainer spinner.
They put the flywheel on there to improve it's low end. The flywheel helps it run smoother at lower speeds. But many people take them off with no loss of performance at all. IMHO the flywheel is just a "gadget" that they use to help sell the engine. You'll be fine without it.

Groundman, you don't have to use a 2.5" spinner just because the old one was 2.5" You can really use most any size that looks good. Well, within reason. You probably wouldn't want one that is 6" across! But I imagine you could use a 3 or 3.5" if you wanted to. Maybe a bigger spinner would have the flat space you need. You could take your plane to your hobby shop and try on some different sizes and types even!

The flywheel does allow for the idle to be a VERY few RPM slower but not enough to be worth worrying about. Pop it off and don't look back. :)
