Re-Applying Monocote Trim
I have a Hobbistar 60 Trainer and some of the Monocote Trim has came off. What is the best way to re-apply this?

RE: Re-Applying Monocote Trim
Use an iron to heat the monocote and smooth the trim back on. Take care not to have the iron too hot. From my understanding once monocote heated and covered, you need a slightly higher temp to re-apply it again.(don't qoute me :) )

RE: Re-Applying Monocote Trim
don't use a clothes iron!!!! too big a surface and it gets too hot..clean under the loose portion with alcohol and use a moncote iron or a trim iron....Are you using windex with ammonia to clean your airplane after you fly? ammonia will loosen monocote glue

RE: Re-Applying Monocote Trim
I guess I was not clear enough here- a covering iron.
I assumed that it was expected to use a covering iron and not a close iron- Jet you proved me wrong. |
RE: Re-Applying Monocote Trim
Lately with thw ARF's and loose trim, I've been cleaning the area with alcohol real good then smearing a little "TIGHTBOND " where the trim goes and sealing it with a trim iron. Seems to be working fine.
I clean the trim iron on a dryer sheet and just scrape the excess glue off with my fingers then wipe clean with alcohol. ENJOY !!! RED |
