Yessss
Had another training session tonite. Had 4 flights. All of my flights, I took off by myself. The first 2 I did my basic figure eights, clockwise/counter patterns. Then the thrill. I started doing approaches for landing. I did several approaches. At first they were high altitude and then we got lower and lower. Before I knew it, I did 2 landings all by myself. What a rush. We have a large grass runway, and the first one I was right on. At least that what I thought. The second was, well what can I say....she landed on her wheels, but was way off a straight landing. But it was a little hard but she didn't ground loop or hit hard enought to strike the prop. All in all, it was a good nite. It's hard to be patient now. But my solo will come in time.
Thanks CC |

RE: Yessss
Good job!!
If you want to practice landings and get the plane more on the centerline, what I tell students is to do an approach and point the aircraft right at them after your turn on final. Let it come in that way, as it is coming towards you. You will naturally tend to move it over to the left or right and get a good lineup with the centerline. Try it a few times and you will see that the landings will begin to straighten out and become more and more on the runway centerline. |
RE: Yessss
CGRetired that is whay my instructor was telling me also. Can't wait to get back up again, and do more approaches and landings.

This applies to both models and 1 to 1 scale. (41 years there) You will learn to fly around the sky fairly quickly. You will learn to take-off fairly quickly. You spend the rest of your life learning how to LAND! :D :) :D |
RE: Yessss
If you are on the runway and nothing is broken, I'd call that a good landing.
It really is a rush isn't it. It still is for me after 10 years of flying. |
RE: Yessss
After you get confortable with landings, you'll soon find that touch-n-go's can be some of the most relaxing type of flying you can do, expecially in the evening after the wind dies down (well, here in Wichita after it drops below 10 mph we consider there is no wind :D - ouflyer knows what I mean).

Hossfly, I hear you on the landing for life. It's a challenge no matter who you are.
JRFisher, I like that. I'll use that as my motto also. hogflyer, :D I guess I'll get better at the rudder huh? |

Awesome, ouflyer!
Just remember...there are 3 secrets to a perfect landing. Unfortunately, nobody knows what they are. ;) |

RE: Yessss
Oh I'm in big trouble RCKen, when I made all those approaches and landings that nite, there wasn't even a breeze blowing. Rare I know.
gboulton, When you find out what they are, send them to me ASAP :D |
RE: Yessss
Then they wouldn't be a secret anymore.[>:]
