Need Flight Line Box Set Recommendations
I'm going to be ordering my first Flight Line Box from Tower. You know, one with the Battery, Charger, Glow Plug Starter, Pump, Electric Pump etc... Was wondering if anyone could suggest a good one, or what is the best one to have... There are a few choices, all are in about the same price range....

Last month I purchased a Hobbico Ultimate Flight Pack(?) It's easy to assemble and works well. Could be a tad bit bigger. The glow leads need to be a little bit longer but for the price it is a good value over all. But then what do I know? LOL

I have had many of those small flight boxes in the past 20 years and never really was happy with any of them.....
This time around I ordered and "real flight box" which should be here next week sometime. Yes, it was costly, but less then the 4 flight boxes I have gone thru in past years combined. If your interested in looking them over go to.... There has to be some others out there but these caught my eye. planepals.com all things considered....very much worth the cost. |

It is only my opinion, but I think you should make you own. There are plans for a very nice box in the August 2001 issue of Model Airplane News. You may spend a little more money, but you will be able to customize you box, and you'll have a one of a kind flight box. If you don't have that issue let me know and I'll scan you a couple of photos

The Great Planes Master Caddy or one of the Sig boxes are pretty good choices. Most of the others are too small or not enough drawers. :)

I would recommend that you go to Lowes or Home Depot and get a plastic tool box and use it.

If you have some scrap wood, zip one together with some deck screws. Here's mine, very simple and much more effecient than the other monster boxes and powerpanels I used to lug to the field.

This simple box makes life easy and hassle free on the flight line. |
