Can someone tell me if i charge my battery and go to the field tomorrow and don't fly. then the next week charge the battery again overnight will that harm the battery in my plane and controller.

Nope, won't harm it at all. In fact, it's probably best as batteries will lose part of their charge over time. How much charge depends on the type of battery. NiMH's will generally lose more charge per day than NiCads will, but even those lose charge too. It's best to just charge them again and then you won't have to worry about it.

Now that there is a battery thread I feel the need to ask about changing the stock NiCd that comes with the futaba Rx with the 7CAP.

The stock one is 4.8v, can I change to 6v using the same receiver and servos without problems? Can I go for a NiMh instead of a NiCd? I charge all my batteries overnight and don't have the need to go for quick charge, so in that sense I think NiMh could serve me much better as I don't need high discharge rates either. I was thinking of something along these lines, that I think I can use my stock charger with:

That will work just fine. I've had good success with Hydrimax receiver packs. Recently I've been buying A-cell packs from http://www.cheapbatterypacks.com, they are usually cheaper than the Hydrimax packs, and work quite well.

The higher capacity packs will weigh more than the stock 4-cell packs, so be sure to recheck your balance after swapping them out. In most cases you probably won't have to rebalance, though.

You probably don't need the 2nd charging to be overnight. But it shouldn't hurt.

As a beginner, what you really need to do if you figure you'll be in this hobby for awhile, is to plan to get an intelligent charger someday. The ones that tell you how much charge the did to bring the pack to capacity will teach you about everything anyone needs to know about their specific batteries and a lot about batteries in general. They also spot batteries that're bad or going bad. Wallwarts don't do that for you.

Also, beginners........ RCU has an excellent forum about batteries. It's monitored by at least one professional who is really, really good. It's a good place to learn about battery stuff.
