move landing gear to a position just ahead of leading edge of wing and add a tail wheel. rebalance model
go taxi it around if you don't like ground handling move main gear slightly foward or backward re-balance and retest. |

Any pics on how the taildragger is rigged? (i.e pull-pull) Im a little unclear on how to tie the rudder in with a pull pull type rig. Pic's would be a great help. Any type of pic with pull-pull on a plane similar to the lt40 that was converted from a trike. I've already got the new main gear ready to mount.

there is a ton of diffrent ways to setup the tail wheel.
one is to tie it into the rudder directly. this is easy to do but might stress the rudder going over bumps another is to mount the tail wheel and run a pushrod from the rudder clevis to the wheels arm. I have had luck with a castoring tailwheel (no steering) but unless you have practice taking off with taildraggers you are almost garunteed a groundloop. I wish I had pics but I am at work now so I cant get to anything. |

You will love the tail dragger once you get the hang of it. My vote is for a control rod off the opposite side of the rudder servo arm. I did this with a Hobbico Superstar 40... and since the distance was not that great from servo to tail wheel, I did not even use a tube..... just a 2-56 rod. You may have to access the formers to install a rod and tube..... as the distance on an LT-40 is longer than my Superstar was. Don't worry about a "little" flex in the tube.... as the tail wheel is not that critical to be sturdy like a control surface. In fact..... I feel a little flex will can be good. A hard impact to the tail wheel may not be transferred as violently to the servo...... just my opinion.....lownslo
