does anyone have an opinion on the Hitec HS-322HD servo with the Karbonite Gears?
42oz at 4.8v----51oz at 6.0v 0.19 sec/60degrees at 4.8v----0.15 sec/60 degrees at 6.0v

As with anything else in this hobby, it will depend on your application of it. Need more info on intended uses.

Thinking for using it for my GB Cub. They seem to have more torque than the futaba 3003. Certainly can buy them for less money. The cub has a magnum 52 4s on it. However I don't want to sacrifice a plane for a few dollars.

You'll be fine using those servos with your Cub. ;)

I've used a number of the 322s. They're about the best $10 standard you'll find. And with the Karbonite gears are worth twice the price. Composite gears are appreciably stronger than nylon, which is found in most $10 gears.

Just a suggestion, but you might also look at the HS475s for value and performance. They're about half again stronger than most of the other standards in torque. They also have Karbonite gears so are more durable too. And only about $16 each.

Hitecs are just about the only servos I've bought in the last year. No other mfg. seems as interested in their servos as Hitec. For example, the HS225 and the HS475.

Thanks DaRock--Always get good information in this forum. Will look at the HS475s also. I am building a P-51 with a magnum 91 4s. Maybe the 475s might be the way to go.

Im looking at Hitec HS5475HB for a Hanger 9 -Showtime 50 with Saito .91 4 stroke. Any comments ?

Since it's a digital 475 it ought to be great. And ought to suit the Showtime excellently well.

Can the Hitec 475 be used with 6v. Tower doesn't give the specs for anything but 4.8v

Yes they can. Check Hitec's website for complete specs. Also check www.servocity.com. You can find full specs on Futaba and Hitec Servos. If interested in the HS 5475HB Digitals...they are on sale for $27.99. If anyone knows of a better price...let us know. I hope to have this bird flying in 2 weeks. Here in the north east time is against us as the weather is starting to change :( . No more week night flying after work. :( We used to be able to get a last flight in up until about 830.....now sun is down by 7pm :( So for those of you that really love to fly and live in year round warm climates...consider yourselves very forunate.

That depends a lot on the brand and model and level of the servo. All brands have their low end and high end stuff.

Typically digitals have better holding power, consume more power, cost more, may be faster and be slightly more accurate in returning to center.

In the case of a servo like the HS475 and it's brother the HS5475, one a digital copy of the analog one, it's very probable that the only difference between them is the circuit board inside.

Thanks for the link Bruce. It was a good read. I think I will stay with the standards for now.
