what does it mean when it says the control linkings are set to begginer i want to do acrobatics but how do i change these settings

With model airplanes, the settings that can be set for a beginner would probably be the control throws of the surfaces, the elevator, ailerons, rudder. And also the location of the CG.

And you move the CG and increase the throws to push the model's capabilites to give more aerobatic responses to your input.

I don't know about that airplane specifically but in general there are control horns on the servo and on the control surface with a linkage connecting them.
There are gererally a nummber of holes in each horn. Move the linkage to a hole farther out on the servo or farther in on the control surface to increase the throws.
CAREFULL, make sure you can comfortably fly the airplane before you make any changes and then go one hole at a time.

OK, the Hobbyzone Firebird Phantom is a $60 RTF electric that comes with everything. TX and all.

It appears it has some settings that can be switched on or off that are advertised to protect beginners from crashing. That's what the advertising seems to imply as an answer to your question.

It apparently has a gyro in it that is like an autopilot that overrides beginner mistakes. And a switch for that. That's what they were talking about.

Ok first of all the Hobbyzone Phantom is a three channel with no ailerons. 3d flight is impossible other than a struggling loop. This is a plane for beginners but you have to be carefull because the only 'left' or 'right' control is done with the rudder. This means if the plane banks too far and the wing tips too low the plane will crash. Oh and about that ACT system i haven't seen a single unit yet, it doesn't come with the airplane you have to purchase it seperate. It is ACT equipt means the sensors are the but the module that control the sensor is not. Another point is the the Phontom is a really small plane, any wind and it will get tossed around.

Be patient, wait for calm days and have fun. It's a good plane just don't expect it to do any 3d...it's a beginners parkflyer.

You actually can do aerobatics with a rudder/elevator airplane however. Not the entire schedule, but rolls are possible. So lots of moves that don't seem possible with just rudder/elevator aren't impossible.

But this thing doesn't sound like an acrobat for sure.

This is a v-tail airplane. Assuming the you are an experienced pilot and that the v-tail mixing is correct and that this plane was not nose heavy and that the motor was strong enough to lift you out to a climb, then yes.

I just recently purchased the Hobbyzone Phantom at my local hobby shop. I bought this plane because of it's relatively small size compared to the challenger and extreme ( I own both as well). I flew the phantom for the very first time yesterday afternoon, and must say I was quite impressed. It flys great. The plane, turns, climbs, and loops with ease. In fact it out loops the challenger hands down. There was no struggling involved what so ever. The loops were tight, fast and effortless...And oh so very fun..:)... I flew without the ACT ( Anti Crash Technology) on. But would recommend any first time flyer to use this technology to learn to fly.

Its11179...When you first turn on the radio, and insert the battery into the plane. The ACT is the default setting for the plane. In other words? Already on...To turn the ACT off. All you do is click the right control stick inward. The radio will make a small beep, and the led light will begin blinking. Your now in pro mode. To turn the ACT back on. Just click the stick again and your back in ACT mode( solid red light ). You can click in and out of ACT mode as many times as you'd like. Even when flying. The plane is equipped with the Anti Crash Technology right in the board. There are no modules to buy what so ever. This plane is great for rooky pilots looking to learn to fly. First time flyers should use the ACT until they get use to the basic fundementals of flying. Once comfortable with the ACT on. Then it's time to turn it off and let this little baby rip. I've been flying for eight years now, and have a whole fleet of planes. All of which I enjoy very much. This plane is now part of that fleet, and now regarded as one of my favorites. It's no brushless powered, lithium burning 3D sky ripper. But it's definitely a great great plane to fly.

Just got a phantom firebird myself. Can't wait to fly it, but I am gonna brace the tail boom where the control rods exit, and use clear packing tape on the leading edges of the wings and tail. I'll report on my first flight, and give yet another opinion on this affordable little plane.
