Scratch build (small)
I have a small balsa wood/tissue paper airplane and was wanting to mount a small batterie, esc, and motor to the plane. I have all of those things but the batterie is a very small lipo. I was wondering if a 2.4Ghz reciever will work if it doesn't get the full 4.8 volts. The motor needs what the batterie provides. Thanks to all who reply.

RE: Scratch build (small)
No. The receivers need a voltage of at least 4.8v or higher in order to operate. If you provide lower than 4.8v they will not work properly.

Will it just shorten the range? or will it not work at all?

RE: Scratch build (small)
As I said in my first post, it will not operate. No, it won't work.

RE: Scratch build (small)
Actually they will operate SLIGHTLY below 4.8 but you are treading in dangerous water. Subject to reboot at any moment if you get a small negative power spike. It would be EXTREMELY foolish to tempt fate. During reboot they are essentially turned "OFF". Not a question of range, it's a question of having a plane or pile of debris.
Essentially, Ken is correct. |
RE: Scratch build (small)
Ok well thanks for the info guys. do any of you know of EXTREMELY small 4.8v batterie packs preferably NiMh
Thanks Electrolight |
RE: Scratch build (small)
Wait a minute!!!
What size is your lipo? A 2 cell lipo with the proper ESC will be more than enough to power your motor and receiver. Don't confuse mah rating with voltage rating. |
