Help

I am new here, and I just got a glow trainer from a friend of mine. But I have a problem, he also gave me a Futaba 7C PCM radio, and I found out that a part for the rudder and throttle stick is cracked, and it wont center the rudder anymore, so my question is where can I go to fix it, or can I use glue to fix it, and what kind of glue?
We don't know what the plane is called, but here are the specs:
Engine: K&B .60 size glow.
Landing Gear Configuration: Tail dragger.
Color: Army camoflage, not finished.
Age: 10 yrs.
It needs new covering.

Please help.

Thanks I will try that, do they require anything else like some proof of purchase thing?

RE: Help

Since RCKEN was kind enough to provide the Futaba info, I would suggest sending the TX and RX in to be checked out and for any needed repairs. If the TX is much more than 3 years old you will probably need a new TX battery. I would also suggest replacing the RX battery in the plane (due to age it is probably also had it ).

If you could post a couple of pics of the plane it would be appreciated. 10 years ago there were still a few tail dragger trainer kits around. A pic should be able to tell us if this is a trainer or not.

The previous owner never got to finish the paint, if anyone is wondering. He said it flys slowly, and is a good trainer, he is a good pilot also. I also have experience on simulators as well.
I have run the engine before and it runs real well, its a K&B.

Just don't fly it below the tree line! :D

You'll never see it.

RE: Help

I'll second what Campy and RCKen suggested - send the TX and RX to Futaba or Radio South for repair and a complete checkout. Replace the batteries in both.

It sure looks like a trainer (although the taildragger configuration may give you some trouble on takeoff), but I can't say what model.

Also, don't attempt to fly the plane by yourself unless you have prior flight experience. Get with a local club and instructor for personal help. It'll save you some time and $$$. :D

+1 on the instructor, search your area for a flying field nearby and contact them and find an instructor, he can probably repair the plane, check the entire radio system and tell you if the plane is ready to fly, then he can help you learn to fly!

RE: Help

RE: Help

IT's NOT an Aero Star 40 !!! and I agree that you should find a field and try to get some assistance, it will be well worth it. Also I'd suggest that you possibly trim out the top of the wing with a starburst ( possibly in white ) and sending the radio in is in your best interest. ENJOY !!! RED

RE: Help

That sure looks like a modified LT-40 to me. Anybody else think so?

Some bright yellow stripes would sure help that thing stand out a bit.

RE: Help

It was modified from tricycle configuration to tail dragger. Yeah it got some minor damage while moving from WI to GA. I went to the flying field and checked it out, now I just need to get an instructor. Thanks for all the help guys.[sm=teeth_smile.gif]
One more question: is their anything special I need to do to send in my transmitter and reciever (packaging, etc.).
