Tapes??
 

Ok, ive posted about flexible glue and got multi responses.

I have read the post on glues in general and there were even more types of glue.....

but what about tape.[X(]

What is the best tape out there? Is there one tape that does it all or are we going to stock every tape on the known market?

I have bought a few for repairing, some are ugly looking some are suppose to be invisible.... is there better?

tape should only be temporary for repairs so the cheapest

Tapes are great especially when fixing foamies.

i always use two-way tape to hold down esc, receivers, etc.

There are some really strong tapes out there.

to the original post....

depends on what you are doing...

small electric foamies? hinge with hinge tape (blenderm) and it works great....
small, quick field repairs? clear packing tape?
trim around canopies, etc. ? then trim tape or hand cut monokote or auto trim tape....
a spad that needs repairs? Duct tape! :)

so really... it depends on what you want to do...

I bought some clear duct brand tape from Canadian tire.

Ii's not super clear like packing tape but it's much stronger.

I've also used tuck tape whick is used to join vapour barriers in your house. I's similar to packaging tape but only stickier.( only problem doesn't come clear jst red with TUck tape all over it)

Jusr wondering if anyone knows of a wonder tape all pretty well everything.

On my Easystar (back when I flew it) I used 3M double sided scotch tape for everything. That stuff was incredibly strong. I used it for the fuse halves, to hold the motor in, servos, ESC etc. Strong enough to hold everything together, but you could still take things apart when needed.

It worked perfectly for like a year and a half while I flew it. This stuff is strong. Not to mention it was only a dinky little 400 motor.

I take only one kind of tape with me in my field-box. It's variously called "Hatch Tape" or Radio Box Tape" at hobby stores. It is a 1" wide and relatively thick, waterproof Vinyl tape used to seal up seaplanes and R/C boats. It makes a GREAT Monokote repair that will stay indefinately but peals off nicely when you do get around to an official repair.

It's also very nice to have Monokote trim sheets (if your plane has Monokote; though I've used it over Oracote, too) to do relatively invisible repairs. Colored packing tape (aka "Zagi Tape") is another choice. Clear packing tape is a solution that has everything going for it except cosmetics.

if you're lucky you'll never need tape. It's just a day-saver to have some on hand to keep flying or prevent worse problems from occuring.

The tape I use most is 3M tapes. For paint masking I use the green automotive, blue and green painters, and the yellow flexible painters tapes. I also picked up a roll of industrial VHB tape which can be used for attaching dissimilar materials like plastic and metal. It's like a super double sided tape, but very expensive. I've used clear packing tape for quick covering repairs and for sealing gaps.
The other tape I use a lot is 1/64" chart tape for making panel lines.
