How do you work with GP hinge slot machine?
1 Attachment(s)
Here is my problem:
I’m afraid it wont cut the slots straight = perpendicular and will emerge out, how to make it perfect? Thanks Alex |
RE: How do you work with GP hinge slot machine?
First off, let the cutter do the work. If you try and force it there is a chance the blade could deflect. GP also sells a guide tool that helps keep it centered and straight. Bottom line is just take your time and make sure everything is straight.

Thanks
O.K. its not so hard, I’m practicing it now, just the 40 size ailerons are very thin. |

Practice is a good thing!
The guide the GP sells is a really handy tool, but it will not help you make it go straight in, that's up to you - just like when you cut them by hand |
RE: How do you work with GP hinge slot machine?
I've found that it works best if you mark where you want the hinge with the tool that was mentioned avove.. then, turn on your slot cutter and place only the left or right "corner" of where the cutting happens into your balsa first, then slide the rest of the blade in carefully..

It's also easiest if you cut the slot BEFORE beveling the surface.

Practice a few times on scrap material. It will help calm the nerves.:D
