Replacing Push Rods

I'm not real happy with the push rods that came with my ARF. They're wooden dowel w/wire on each end. They're pretty flimsy and appear to be binding when I installed them.

Since I no longer have access to the inside of the fuse, something I need to anchor (like NyRod) is out of the question.

What can I use to replace the original pushrods that will be a little less flimsy?

Thanks

Mark

Mark, use carbon fiber push rods, or fiberglass arrow shafts.

I use the Dave Brown fiberglass pushrod system. It comes with two 36" fiberglass shafts and enough ends to make single or double pushrods.

Slightly larger diameter dowels. ;-) Maybe 1/16". That can double the stiffness of a 1/4" dowel vs. a 5/16" one. Tapering the ends can help dramatically in binding problems.

You could also go with a pull-pull system.

And just because its finished, doesn't mean you can't access the inside. I've cut and repaired LOTS of holes to access the inside.
