ROBART RETRACTS - LEAK - HELP NEEDED
 

Guys,

I need your help.

I've just installed the retracts of my TF Staggerwing and when I fill the pump and move the valve away from the servo, the gears go down. Fine. But when I move the valve towards the servo, it looses pressure on the gauge and the retracts don't go up.

This is my first pneumatic retracts and I'm kinda lost. I understand that there's probably a leak, but I have a few questions:

1) When I move the valve towards the servo, to which barb I'm releasing air to?

2) what's is my best guess regarding a leak? Those small tees?

You should be able to hear it?

I've used a piece of fuel tubing stuck in my ear and the other end held close to the suspected source?

Be careful and not blow your ear drum out?

I think you just have it plumbed wrong? Check your diagrams?

a tip for finding leaks a little soapy water goes a long way where bubbles are there is a leak.
the first area I would check is the fill valve when I first installed my Robarts the valve core in the center of the filler was not tight enough and was leaking it doesn't need to be over tight but at least snug inside the filler valve.
the second place would be the actuation valve to see if there is a leak .
then pump it up and a couple of drops of soapy water to check the T's and connections for any possable leaking spots,if your loosing air that fast its going to be a major area not one of the T's the fill valve,the actuation valve, or the gear themselvs this is where I would start first,process of elimination.
off the top of my head I don't remember which barb does what.

Can you tell me which barb I'm releasing the ain into, when I move the valve towards the servo? That would help a lot...

You will have to isolate your problem

Tim,

Actually, it only leaks when the valve is towards the servo. When I move it that way, it goes everything out like.. in seconds. On the other direction, it doesn't leak al all. So, I could eliminate the fill valve.

Why don't you post a pic of the installation so we can SEE how you have things connected. Otherwise we are just guessing (more than usual). What model of valve are you using?
