RE: upgrading?
It would be ok if you have a little assistance with setting it up tame then go towards wild as you get comfortable with it. Do yoursef a favor before assembling and trace all the parts so you can rebuild with fan foam (thin foam underlayment for house siding) the motor radio and servos will outlast the foam structure of most electric planes. Replacement foam wings etc. are dirt cheap if you cut your own from fan foam. they are not to great for outdoors, but hey it's winter!:D

RE: upgrading?
I bought a "Fancy Foam" Ultimate Bipe for my second airplane.. Got it last winter, and am still flying it today.. Those things are TONS of fun.. I had to "learn" how to land that particular plane a little differently than a traditional airplane because it doesn't have landing gear.. but they are lots of fun, and will teach you to move ALL of your sticks! The great thing about foamies is that they can be glued back together many many times.. Gorilla Glue and Summo glue are great.. Check out the fancy foam folks.. they have some great all inclusive kits that if I remember correctly are priced such that you can't buy all the components cheaper.. www.fancyfoam.com
