Cap 232
 

Does anyone know where I can get a canopy for a GP cap 232 40 size. Mine has a crack in it from storage.

You should be able to get one from Tower or Great Planes. Here's the Tower link to the part you need. Sorry, didn't see the 40 size.

Which Great Planes Cap 232 do you have??? The 160 sized ARF? Or the 40 sized kit??

This is a Cap 232--40
It was given to me by a person that is going all gassers. This is a nice looking plane. Now what I need to know what would be a good engine for this 232. Wife said she would buy one for Christmas. I know that this is more plane that I can fly--but I will take my time and go with one of the 3-D instructors when I get ready. Been down that road of trying years ago to learn on my own--spent enought money to go to Florida to see stickbuilder. I am a basic pilot that can do a few things but continue to learn. I will post a picture and see what you think

Here are the pictures--and I lied-they were given to my wife by one of her co-workers. Can you identify the plane in the 2nd picture--looks like a wedge--the third one is a Uproar 40 that is now ready to be covered. He appears to be a great builder looking at the uproar.

The plane in the center is some form of a Zaggy. A lot of these were made most of which I believe were electric with rear mounted motors. Couldn't tell you exactly what that one is but obviously made for front engine. They are nomally very fast and very maneuverable. Like watching a bumble bee fly.

I have the GP Cap 232 with a Thunder Tiger Pro 46. With a 12x4 APC prop, the plane has unlimited vertical.

Just be careful with the elevator. This plane LOVES to snap. If you're not ready for it, it will surprise you.

I built this plane and powered it with a .46-AX. It was plenty of power but I had to add A LOT of nose weight, even with the receiver battery out front. If I were to build another one, I'd opt for a little heavier engine, maybe a .60 2-stroke or a nice 4-stroke of some sort.

Like bkdavy said, watch the elevator. The throws given in the manual may seem low but they work fine. Too much isn't good with a Cap.

The plane in the center looks kind of like a Diamond Dust but the vertical stabs are different.

This is a nice looking plane! I love Caps. Currently I have a H9 Cap 232 (Alitalia scheme). It is a little large to cart to and from the field every weekend. I was looking for an ARF .40 to .60 Cap 232. Can anyone recommend one? Goirish, thats a nice lookin Cap! Have fun!! :D
