Questionable Batteries

Hi folks! I inherited a plane from my uncle 3 yrs ago (Thunder Tiger ARF 40). He hadn't used the plane in a year. I used it 2x 2 years ago and haven't touched it since. Are my batteries any good by now? Is there a way to test them in a way that will tell me if they're any good and will they have any endurance? Thanks in advance.

Questionable Batteries

They would need to be cycled a few times (discharged, then charged) to see if they still have the appropriate capacity. Batteries that old would be suspect to me, even if just sitting. I would replace them for peace of mind. For battery info from the Battery Guru see...

I would go ahead and buy some new ones. It is better to be safe than sorry. Losing a plane to battery failure really sucks.

I have a Futaba 500mah Nicad Rx pack that sat for 15 years after only being used a couple of times. It still powers a .40 size plane for three or four flights, although it's best to check out any older/questionable pack with a cycler.
