What is the difference between...

What is the difference between 2 Channel and 3 Channel r/c airplanes? Is there even a difference? Thanks in advance![8D]

A 2 channel plane is usually throttle and rudder control. The throttle will control the climb and descent of the plane. Give it more throttle to climb and vice versa. And the rudder controls your turning.

A 3 channel plane is usually throttle, rudder, and elevator. The throttle will control the speed here with the elevator controlling climbing and descending. And the same with the rudder, it will control your turning.

2 channel "toy" is usually just motor controls "dual motor thrust steering like an rc boat or car".. there are a few that are single motor and rudder or elevon though 3 channel usualy dictate motor rudder and elevator control.. or motor elevator and aileron control.. either of which is MUCH better when learning to fly.. you learn the right way.. and you have enough control to get yourself out of trouble where as the 2 channel planes use airspeed to increase altitude

hope this helps..

Older 2 channel models had a constant speed and you would have elevator and rudder control. After the plane ran out of fuel you would simply glide in for a landing.

EDIT// And some newer 3 chanell models, such as the Park Zone Warbirds, give you throttle, elevator and aileron control.

I used to play with 1/2A stuff a bit, most of it two channel. Throttle was as 67Mustang says, wide open until it ran out of fuel, rudder and elevator control.
