engine for ARF

Hello All, I'm thinking of buying a Graupner Piper Cub ARF. The kit calls for a .46 2-stroke, or .72 to .80 4-stroke.

I already have a OS .46 FX. This is supposed to be a fairly robust engine, and I'm just looking for a plane to put it into.

Do you think that this is enough engine for the cub? (72" span, 6.5 lbs). I'm not looking to do much in the way of aerobatics, just want to cruise the skies.

Thanks!

Your 46FX will do great! Just use a larger diameter prop with a flatter pitch. I think an 11X5 or a 12X4 would work great. I also think you should use a wood prop. Wood props are lighter, and a Cub simply must have a wood prop! :D

GalenB is right on! Your 46 FX will be perfect.

Your engine will be fine. Personally, I like the sound of a 4-stroke on something like a Cub. :)

I'd like a four stroke too, but I've got to use what I've got (and that's an OS 46 FX for now!). I'm sure I'll get that 4 stroke later.
