Plane covering

The covering on my alpha trainer is starting to wrinkle and bubble. What is causing this? Can I fix it by gettin and iron and just re ironing it?

yes or a heat gun works well, Winter seens to make all my planes do that and I just hit them with a heat gun and they look like they did when I put them there in the fall.

Dauntae is correct about just reheating the covering.

Something that helps keep the covering from developing wrinkles is to apply the covering as tight and wrinkle free as possible in the first place and then using only enough heat to remove wrinkles. I have done this for several years now and seldom have to re-shrink the covering.

The Alpha is an ARF. I don't know if it is the sticky backed shelf paper kind or Ultracote. Anyway, use heat very carefully. If it is the shelf paper kind, it won't take excessive heat well. Use your iron on low or keep the heat gun far away at first.
