RE: Newbies need Guidence
Kits are fine, I loive building them myself. Not all families have the time or space or adeptness to do it though. Then again, he may build his next plane too. He now knows most of his options and will proceed from there in the manner best for his situation.

Falcon Second best plane ever made if you ask me!!! BTW, the best is the Ultra Sport!!! :D Ken |
RE: Newbies need Guidence
Ken, Which Ultra Sport is best, GP Ultra Sport 40, GP Ultra Sport 60, or RCM plans Ultra Sport. I am looking to a next plane to build after I fly the GP Super Sportster I am building now.
One thing no-one has added to this thread, A nice field box is nice to have also. This and the Tower Trainer RTF combo listed is everything you would need to get started in the hobby. Minus AMA, flying field, fuel, and instructor. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXL419&P=0 |

RE: Newbies need Guidence
Tower hobbies shows two US40's. One is the Ultra Sport 40 and the other one is the Ultra Sport 40 Plus. What's the difference?

RE: Newbies need Guidence
CG Retired, the US 40+ has 3 inches more wing span, instructions for retracts, and larger tail surfaces for 3D flying. (according to the adds.)

RE: Newbies need Guidence
Ah..Ok. Umm.. I didn't see that, but I wasn't really looking, nor was I doing any comparing either.
Well, the retracts don't interest me.. The rest may.. although I am not into 3D. Thanks. CGr. |

RE: Newbies need Guidence
Hey Jimmy and Quinn. The worst place to start in RC airplanes is Air Hogs. If you have a budget of $350, you can buy a great flying beginner airplane. it depends on what you want to get into. send me a message is you want to get into eletric flight, or glow engines(glow engines are engines that are powered by gas).
Michael P.S.: you want to get into airplanes right, not helicopters? |
RE: Newbies need Guidence
I'am a newbie and have lost money and time in this hobbyI will not quit and I will learn this hobby. I want to let other newbies no my mistakes, buying a helicopter is risky buisness online, you are new and no nothing about the hobby( for me helicopters).shopping for a helicopter online; a helicopter is only as good as the isnstructions and manual you must know exactly whats in the instructions and or manual or have an instructor to help you step by step. most rc helicopters are from china they dont speak englich so they cant write a manual or instructions also beware the ads for beginner. I'am a beginner the day I got my new heli tried to fly it by trial an error since instructions said squat crashed badly I could buy new parts but if the instructions couldnt show you how to get started they are definitely not going to show you how to fix it. I spent many hours on a simulator thought I could do it wrong!!!! I belive the best way to this hobby is through your local hobby store it might cost you more but its better than throwing your money away online the lhs are there to help you and show you how to get started or fix it if it breaks. If you are going to do it on your own make sure there are good instructions and manual .
