A fuel dot is just a plug for a third line in the tank.
It mounts to the cowl, then you pass the fill line through it. Put the plug in the line, and push the plug into the receptacle To fill, you pull the plug out of the receptacle - which brings the fill line out with it - remove the plug - fill the tank - replace the plug, and push it back into the collar (receptacle) |
RE: Fuel Dots
a fuel dot is used with a 3 line tank system....1 line from the muffler to the tank for pressure, 1 line from the clunk in the tank to the carb, and a 3rd line from a second clunk in the tank to a fuel dot. A fuel dot is just a collar around a hole in a cowl. The 3rd line is used for re/de fueling..and has a stopper in it when not in use to keep from venting pressure in the tank, and to hold the line in the fuel dot,
there are other ways to set up refuelers..but a fuel dot is not a refueler...its just a collar around a hole.. Hope I answered your question with out confusing you |

Nice diagrams and explanations in the above post. PSP make some real nice fuel dots. http://www.pspmfg.com/FuelDots.html It is easy to do and a proven way to fill a fuel tank with a plane that has a cowl. |

I just knew Minnflyer would come to the rescue.

RE: Fuel Dots
You can use a "T" fitting on a 2 line setup but flooding the carb and sucking air when de-fueling can be a problem.
I have used both and prefer 3 line when possible. |
RE: Fuel Dots
Hey Missileman the only time I suck air is when I start to exercise.
