Tiger 2 engine question

I picked up a used tiger 2 40 size at the local auction and I am wondering if I can safely use my os 61 on it. I would prefer not to buy anthor engine for the plane at this point in time.

Thanks

Jon

You might come up with a fire wall problem fitting the mount or something like that but it should work. Than again this is just an educated guess.

You can use it but I find the extra weight and power don't make it a good flying aircraft. There is a reason the models are designed for a particular power plant.

RE: Tiger 2 engine question

The Tiger 2 flies really nicely with a 40 sized ball bearing engine. I'd be afraid it would lose some of its great flight characteristics with the added wing loading of a 60. Also, you may have trouble slowing it down enough for landing, even with the 60 at idle. Ground clearance for the prop may be another issue with a 60.

I'd say pick up an inexpensive 40 or 46 ball bearing engine. A bushed 46 would probably be ok too.

Thanks, I knew I should have waited around for another engine.

Thanks

RE: Tiger 2 engine question

I have a Tiger II with a 55 AX on it. It flies sweet. That is the only Tiger that I have built to date that did not take any nose weight. The extra weight of the engine is usable weight instead of dead weight. All that said I did not have a 60 size engine mount that would fit between the cheeks of the Tiger II. There is one out there some where I am sure, but I did not have one at the time. That is the only reason it has a 55 on it. It has the same foot print as a 46. A FX 91 has tha same foot print as a FX 61. I have a Tiger 60 with one of those on it. It also flies great. I like the extra power.

Hey Jon, I've got an old OS 46SF that I could loan you for that plane. Runs great
