Which frequency to use
 

I am still a noob. I have ran my nitro truck on a 2.4ghz radio but want to know if the 72mhz(I think thats what it is) is it better, and which is better with the distance it can be controlled. I just bassically want to know what the best frequency is. To me being a comp guy I`d pick the 2.4 ghz but I read otherwise. Someone please explain to me pls. I want to fly my 76 inch mustang and my g2 raptor.Another thing if a radio looses the signal do the servos shut off.
Edit: basically I just want want to know what is the best and if a radio looses a signal do the servos shut off and if they do do they shut off at the last signal sent or do they shut off completely. I don`t need to loose control of my truck,plane or heli if I go too far outta range. I`m using a t6ex Futaba radio .

Okay, first things first, to my knowledge, the 2.4 works fine in aircraft. Not so in boats, where there is serious amounts of glitching and control loss with the Spectrum series. Since you have Futaba gear, I'm going to assume you have the FASST system, so you shouldn't have any trouble in that respect.
As for servos at extreme range, the only things that SHOULD affect them would be a drained battery pack and getting out of "line of site" by going behind a hill or similar signal blocker. One thing you need to remember is that servos don't shut off, they simply lose the receivers input. If that should happen, a failsafe will lock the controls in a preset position Unless the batteries fail. I know my 9C has a built in failsafe, but if your s doesn't, you need to get one or more, especially for the throttle. Hope this answers at least part of your questions

The 72 Mhz band is the aircraft band on the old style radios, Non SS. You have channel 11-60 within this band.

The 75 Mhz band is for surface use and it has it's own set of frequencies, 61-90.

I'm not sure what band you use up in Canada, you have to check with local flyers. The UK is on the 35 Mhz band. Every country does there own thing.

Once you determine what band your in, then choose your frequency on the basis of local preference or use by fellow flyers.

Or better yet, use the Spread Spectrum radio that you have and you won't have to choose a frequency, just fly.

Between SS and 72 Mhz they probably have about the same range.

You said you are using a Futaba 6ex radio. I have to assume you already have the radio?
If so you don't have any choice, your radio is either 2.4Ghz or 72Mhz and can't be changed.
