LT-40 and Senior Kadet Wheels
I finally got to fly my LT-40 yesterday!!! It was a successful flight. Slight washout in the wing but I should be able to straighten it out.
One thing I noticed is due to the ground conditions (bumpy) at the field, I was getting stuck in ruts or mowing the lawn. So, I was thinking of upping the wheel diameters. What is the maximum/reasonable size for the LT-40 (as a taildragger) and my Senior Kadet ARF. The LT-40, I believe has 2.25" on it. The Senior Kadet ARF, which has foam wheels, has like 3.25" on it... |

Try 3" mains and a 2.5" or 2.75" on the nose. I have found that the sizes recommended in the instructions are usually better suited for pavement.

Tip on wheels.
If you want light, cheap, durable wheels. Go to yard sales and buy some toys. Alot of plastic toy cars have realy good wheels for RC. You can find them in in just about any size you want on one trip. My last trip to yard sales, I bought four toy cars. All for a total of $2.50. Got four main gear wheels and 12 tail wheels. They will fit most wheel hubs for RC. |
